The Kingdom of Kerma
Kerma, near the Third Cataract, was the capital of a powerful Nubian kingdom flourishing roughly between 2500 and 1500 BCE, its history divided into Early, Middle, and Classic Kerma, the last spanning about 1750-1500 BCE and marking the kingdom's greatest splendor. The site preserves the "Western Deffufa," a massive mudbrick structure over 18 meters tall that served a religious or administrative function, along with an "Eastern Deffufa" linked to the royal funerary area.
