Population Distribution and Major Metropolitan Areas
The three nations of North America differ substantially in population while sharing a common pattern of concentration in a small number of dominant urban regions. The United States Census Bureau estimated the U.S. population at roughly 334 to 335 million in 2023; Mexico's national statistics agency, INEGI, and United Nations estimates place Mexico's population at approximately 129 million in the same year; and Statistics Canada recorded Canada's population at approximately 40 million, a much smaller figure spread over a far larger land area.
